Kovalchuk L. Hygienic evaluation of the impact of seashore protection constructions on the marine environment and population health

Object - formation of recreation resources as a result of coast-protecting structures’ (CPS) building on the sea coast. Purpose - to substantiate systems of sanitary-hygienic control on building and exploitation of CPS and beach-forming structures directed at maintenance of health of population. Methods are sanitary-chemical, sanitary-microbiological, method of expert evaluation, experimental, sanitary-statistical, method of sanitary description, medico-sociological method. Novelty - for the first time on the basis of hydrodynamic processes on the coast, on the basis of microbiota state analysis in the zone of CPS and processes of self-purification in the sea water risk factors at treatment-and-health-improving use were determined; regularities of pollutants’ distribution in the objects of environment at recreation water consumption subject to the level of limitedness of CPS water area and interconnection of pollution level of sea water and beach material were detected, priority directions on optimization of measures on increase of sanitary-epidemic well-being of population in the regions of CPS location were substantiated. Results of investigations were introduced into the educational process, used by architects at designing of recreation objects and by sanitary-epidemiological services at conduction of preventive and routine sanitary supervision on state of recreation zones and sea environment.
