The thesis analyses contribution of V. I. Masalskiy in the formation and development of the Russian language methodology in Ukraine. The research examined the life of the scholar as well as his methodological and teaching activities; defined and analysed the factors that contributed to the making and formation of the linguo-didactic conception of V. I. Masalskiy, that is to say: the study of the methodology theoretical works, the analysis of the historical methodological heritage, the research of the process of parallel teaching of Ukrainian and Russian languages in schools of Ukraine.
