The aim of the research consists in the study of characteristic features of actualizing the roles of the subjects of English speaking family conflict discourse by analyzing the interconnections between cognitive-communicative factors, the ways of their speech representation and the language means of their realization. The object of the study is presented by utterances, realized by English speaking communicants in situations of family conflict, in which stereotypical roles are embodied by language means. The subject of the investigation is presented by speech ways and language means of embodying stereotypical knowledge about the roles in connection with cognitive-communicative factors that together represent family conflict communication as social interaction. The methods of investigation were: text interpretation analysis, cognitive modeling method, contextual analysis method, cognitive-pragmatic interpretation, component analysis, the element of quantitative analysis. The scientific novelty of the paper lies in the fact that it is the first to define English speaking family conflict discourse and family role as its construct and the systemic component of its subjects social interaction; also the paper proves that the notional component of stereotypical roles knowledge accumulates traditional (patriarchal and modern) and alternative views of the English speaking social community members on the rights and duties of family members, these views are represented by language means in conflict situations in speech ways connected with role type. The research is also the first in giving a systematic description of family roles stereotypical knowledge notional component, in establishing interconnection between the ways of roles speech realization and the language means of evaluation; in establishing correlations between communicative-positional and status characteristics of discourse subject and his/her interpretation of the evaluative component of stereotypical knowledge about a certain role. The paper also contains new information about the methods of identifying the discourse context under study and utterances which contain linguistic embodiment of stereotypical family roles. The practical value of the paper is that its results can be used in the courses of theoretical grammar, general linguistic, special courses in discoursology, communicative linguistics, cognitive linguistics, sociolinguistics, text linguistics and linguistic axiology.
