Essay

The dissertation is devoted to theoretical and experimental investigations on the process of caking of preliminary compacted coals and coal blends used for coke making with stamp charging technology. The developed method allows to improve evaluation reliability of these characteristics of coals (coal blends) for stamp charging with assurance of high strength of coke.A new method for direct determination of caking ability and caking power of compacted coal and coal blends is developed. Values of caking ability a 0 and caking power A for different caking coals that are the raw basis for stamp charging technology were determined experimentally as well as criteria level of indexes (> 6,9 MPa) and A (> 2,9 mass p.) for investigated compacted coal blends.The developed method allows to make a right forecast of coke quality using indexes of caking ability and caking power of compacted coal blends as well as to make an assessment and choosing of caking coals of different rank for stamp charging technology that in its turn assures producing of coke with high strength and low abrasiveness. The basic theoretical materials, experimental data and results of industrial trials of the dissertation are used during teaching at the Chairs of the NTU Kharkov Polytechnical Institute, National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine.
