Essay

The dissertation deals with study of diseases of winter wheat kernels, their harmfulness and biological characteristics of micromycetes involved in pathogenesis. Common bunt, enzymatic-mycotic exhaustion, Fusarium head blight, black point and shriveling of grain are found to be major diseases of winter wheat kernels. The first time the dynamics during grain ripening: milk-dough, dough and full ripeness stages has been investigated. Relationships between diseases of kernels, sowing qualities of seeds, content of nutrients, and oxygen-uptaking ability have been ascertained. Activation of germination of common bunt teliospores under falling temperature has been revealed. Mechanism of fungicide action on pathogen spores viability has been studied. The disinfecting effect of ozone on pathogenic mycoflora of winter wheat seeds has been established, its influence on germination of pathogenic spores has been investigated.
