The thesis studies the main peculiarities of the U.S. policy in the Caribbean beyond Cold War. The author's approach to the definition of hegemony is developed. Hegemony is considered as a primacy of a state in economic, military and political spheres of power. It is shown that the USA holds its hegemonic status in the Caribbean. The phenomenon of inertance in the U.S. foreign policy is analyzed. Special attention is given to the intra- and extra-regional challenges to the U.S. hegemony in the Caribbean. The reaction of the USA on these challenges is demonstrated. Recommendations for Ukraine consider taking into account the U.S. policy in the Caribbean.
