Teslenko N. Referential semantics of demonstrative pronouns: the cognitive aspect

The semantics of pronouns this and that as an opposition to the criteria of definiteness and indefiniteness is investigated for the first time in the dissertation. The influence of syntactic environment on the choice of studied forms is described and the dependence of antecedent and form of the pronoun from structural-semantic peculiarities of the context is highlighted. Great attention is paid to the cognitive analysis that helped to select text mechanisms of using the pronoun, as well as the analysis of relationships of the construct of the pronoun. The pronouns this and that are analyzed according to their linear and vertical semantics as to the character of the semantic-syntactic realization. The methodology of the selection of the relationships, frames is made with the help of which the construct of the pronoun is formed.
