Abid K. Improvement of preoperative preparation of patients with benign hyperplasia of prostate gland of large volume for transurethral resection

The thesis covers the issues of treatment of benign hyperplasia of prostate, namely decrease of complications and improvement of consequences of transurethral resection of prostate for patients with prostate volume more than 80 cm3. The work contains the examination data and treatment consequences of 198 patients. Where the first group consisted of 94 (47,5 %) patients, who underwent retropubic prostatectomy according to Millin. The second group consisted of 48 (24,2 %) patients, who had transurethral prostate resection during surgical treatment of benign hyperplasia of prostate. Before transurethral prostate resection as a preoperative preparation for blood flow reduction in prostate, the patients of the third group went through additional therapy with the use of Finasteride (Penester) 5 mg once a day during 4-6 months. Their number made up 56 (28,3 %) patients. Dopplerographic and morphological researches showed a significant blood flow reduction in prostate at the end of preoperative treatment course. The preoperative course of sclerotherapy with the use of Finasteride significantly improved the quality of transurethral prostate resection at patients with benign hyperplasia of prostate of more than 80 cm3 volume due to reduction of intraoperative loss of blood and the number of hemorrhage complications
