Filipets O. Cerebral stroke according to the data of stroke register in Chernivtsi (clinical-neurological and epidemiological research)

Results of clinical and epidemiological study - the register of cerebral stroke in Chernivtsi, held in 2006-2007, are presented in this thesis. The structure and prevalence of somatic pathology in patients with stroke have been investigated. Associations between level of comorbidity assessed by means of Charlson index with case fatality and determinants of severe course of hyperacute phase of stroke, stroke-associated pneumonia and size of cerebral lesion have been shown. The incidence and prevalence, mortality and case fatality of different types of cerebral stroke have been studied. We have shown instability of epidemiological indexes and differences between obtained results an official statistical data. The prevalence of basic stroke risk factors, their gender and age peculiarities have been determined. Substantive prognostic role of certain factors for lethality in stroke has been stated. Based on the obtained results practical approach to prevention, decrease of incidence and case fatality in stroke has been worked out.
