Petrenko T. The literary activity of Botkin in the social and cultural context of the period between 1840 th and 1860 th of the ХІХ th century

Object - articles and letters of V.P. Botkin, a book of essays "Letters on Spain"; aim - to determine where is the place of V.P. Botkin in the Russian literary and social movement of 1830-1860-ies and his contribution to the development of the Russian esthetic thought; methods - historical and functional, comparative and historical, descriptive; novelty - first presented in the thesis of literary aspects allowed characterization of the V.P. Botkin in social and cultural context of 1840-1860's of the nineteenth century, considered Botkin's relationships with modern writers, put through a comprehensive analysis of his literary-critical legacy, analyzed the "Letters on Spain" in the context of the traditions of Russian literature sketches, and also Botkin's place in literature and public fight of that time specified, his role in strengthening Russian esthetism; results - can be used for further study of the history of Russian criticism, during the preparation of general and special courses and seminars on the history of Russian literature of the nineteenth century, developing themes of course works and diploma in higher educational institutions, as well as in improving the educational process in schools and high schools with depth study of Russian literature; brunch - philology
