The dissertation is devoted to research of the contemporary stage of the law terminology in Japanese and to disclosing its structural, semantic and functional peculiarities. The ratio of the kango, wago, gairaigo units in the contemporary Japanese law terminology is established; the productivity of the ways of term-formation is disclosed, the typical models of term-formation are represented. The ratio of branch and overbranch law terminology is determined; the development of the branch terminologies is disclosed; the peculiarities of the branch and overbranch terms are found out. A comprehensive description of organizing and disorganizing semantic phenomena in Japanese law terminology was made; the peculiarities of these phenomena were found out; the classifications of synonyms, antonyms, homophones, hierarchical relations in Japanese law terminology were offered; the original criterion of polysemy and homonymy division in the modern Japanese law terminology was worked out.
