Essay

The procedure for determination of brake disk characteristics for coaches with a view to the specified braking distance was developed. The procedure stipulates the application of specific braking force for evaluation of braking efficiency using the braking distance of the train equipped with tread brake as a criterion. Analytical findings on dependence of disk temperature change on braking characteristics and disk temperature distribution are presented, thus allowing to obtain improved temperature distribution characteristic, nomograms and tables for determination of disk temperature under pneumatic emergency braking mode of coaches. Tables and nomograms for braking distance under electro pneumatic and pneumatic emergency braking mode of the coach with disc brake were made. Mathematical model for determination of the braking distance of the specific coach equipped with disk brake at emergency pneumatic braking mode was improved. The mathematic model as compared to available models for coaches with tread brake takes account of time for filling the brake cylinder with compressed air and test method for brake disk heating under braking mode.
