Essay

The work deals with me role of chronic stress in the first trimester pregnancy loss pathogenesis and with the issue of preconception counseling of patients with psychosocial maladaptation. It was found that perceived stress level of women with early pregnancy loss was significantly elevated in comparison to that of women with normal reproductive performance. The results of clinical and psychometrical investigations showed the presence of two etiologic sources of patient's psychosocial maladaptation: constitutionally low stress resistance and prolonged influence of stressful conditions. Basing on the results of hormonal and genetic studies it was concluded that patients with pregnancy loss have hyperactive hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis reaction and genetically determined antioxidant systems' deficiency. Suppressive effect of stress-realizing hormones on the ovarian function was demonstrated. Advisability of complex preconception counseling of women in the condition of psychosocial maladaptation was substantiated.
