Essay

In thesis it is grounded the necessity of optional course "Chemistry and Environment" as a means of improvement of chemical education. The study has defined the goal of optional classes of research nature, which facilitates the identification of pupils' interests and abilities, increases motivation for learning chemistry and further core orientation. It is studied the state and capabilities of the environmental component of the chemistry course in optional classes in elementary school. It is also structured the theoretical and experimental contents of the optional course "Chemistry and Environment". It is developed and implemented into educational process the program of this course and instructional materials for teachers (approved for implementation by Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, certificate № 1/11-2548 from 15.04.2009), educational materials for pupils, performance evaluation of the effectiveness of training in the optional course "Chemistry and Environment"; elements of knowledge and factors of motivational component, cognitive and creative activity of pupils. The pedagogical effectiveness of this course was experimentally verified and positive perceptions of pupils and teachers were confirmed.
