Essay

The work deals with the study of peculiarities of the clinical course and some areas of pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis (MS) depending on patients' sex and age in order to improve diagnostics effectiveness and treatment. Is it established that with patients suffering from MS there exists an accelerated process of aging of both cells and the whole organism. Thus, MS is not only demyelinating but neuro-degenerative disease. To monitor the course of the disease as well as its forecasting and cure re-sults it is recommended to specify the amount of tau-protein that is the biological marker of axonal affection of cerebrum spinal cord. It is demonstrated that age and gender factors influence upon MS development type and course, patients' сondition of mental functions, and vascular hemodynamic changes. The expediency is proved of complex treatment of patients suffering from MS including either modern immune modulators, cytostatic agents, and corticosteroids in pulse-doses or drugs of neural protective, neurotropic and vasoactive group, as well as correction of emotion and personality sphere.
