Object of the research: neoconservative direction of economic science in the third part of XX - at the beginning of XXI centuries. Aim of the research: to make scientific analysis and synthesis of the neoconservatism representatives views on basic problems of modern economic theory and practice, to reveal their contribution to the development of economic science and economic policy of the leading world countries and Ukraine based on the study and critical evaluation of literature and statistical data. Scientific novelty of the research: for the first time neoconservative direction is disclosed within the major theoretical and methodological foundations of modern economic science as a tool for social and economic development based on the principles and provisions of neoconservative theories (monetarism, the theory of rational expectations, supply-side economics), considering the contradictions and limitations of their application in economic policy. The analysis of the common roots of theoretical and methodological principles of neoconservative theories - methodological individualism, general market equilibrium, self-regulation economy, the leading role of money in the modern market economy and others have been improved. Methods of the research: classification and systematization, the unity of historical and logical analysis, structural and genetic analysis and synthesis, comparative and statistical analysis. Research results were used during the formation of Ternopil region development strategy till 2015, while performing state budget theme and were implemented into the educational process.
