Essay

The dissertation deals with an analysis of the legal mechanism of the state supervision over insurers. The models of the insurance supervision in foreign jurisdictions, in particular in the EU countries, are analysed. The author examines the notion and the essence of the state supervision over insurers, clarifies the prerequisites, goals and principles of such supervision, and explores the legal status and functions of a regulatory body having the authorities of state supervision over insurers. The author proves that it is not possible to separate regulatory and supervisory functions.
