Minkova O. Expressive potential of secondary nomination means in the language of modern Ukrainian publicism

The system reserch of secondary nomination means has been realized for the first time. Accordingly the main approaches to the study of language tropes and figures as the phenomena of secondary nomination have been analyzed. The criteria of their functioning in lexico-semantic subsystem of the language have been defind. The objective denotative basis of expressive secondary nomination has been found out. The mechanism of the motivation for the ways of expressive secondary nomination in the sphere of publicistic spearch has been observed. The structure-semantic models (forms) of secondary nomination (metaphor, metonimy, oxymoron, phraseological units, periphrasis, simile) have been studied. Their functions and role in the system of Ukrainian expressive-figurative means have been found out.
