The thesis investigates features of politicized environmentalism movements, their role and place in the political process. Causes and the features of the process of institutionalization of environmental protection movements in modern United States and Western European countries are highlighted. Ecologism is described as a way to solve the crisis interactions between society and natural environment that evolves in the process of institutionalization of environmentalism from philosophical ideology to political ideology.
