Researched theoretical and practical problems of realization of Constitutional legal status of populated areas, which according to the Law of Ukrainian “About the Ukrainian mountain populated areas status of Ukrainian” acquired the status of “mountain”. In the historical light legal state of the mountainous areas is shown, consideration of their economical, ethnic, social peculiarities in the legal system of previous times. Problems of local self-governing and the legal solving of them are defined. The legislation which defines the constitutional and legal status of mountain populated areas is being analyzed.
