Essay

The dissertation studies media art - the phenomenon of contemporary visually-based media culture, its essence and peculiar features, which indicantly diagnose the condition of today's human. The groundwork of the philosophic-anthropological analysis of media art is Niklas Luhmann's social theory, which esteems art inseparably from general sociocultural context, as one of its essential mechanisms - herein, the mechanism of culture self-description and selfregulation. Foundational changes in the outlook of contemporary human, which is ontologistic ambiguity of media field spatiotemporal peculiarities, gradually appear within media art which axiological culmination is communication. Media art analysis paradigm was worked out in the course of the research, which appealed to stepping out of traditional categorical instrument framework. A lion's share of the research is dedicated to the media art practice analysis, which signified the conclusions indicating substantial changes in the outlook of contemporary human. Four basic types of media art were distinguished: video art, digital art, net art and science art and analysed with a view to their role in shaping non-linear thinking, creation of new human life environment.
