Essay

This thesis research has been dedicated to the complex description of semantic and structural organization of simple and complex sentences with the infinitives that have the significance of general purpose in modern Ukrainian language.Among the characteristic features, intrinsic to the constructions with the infinitive of purpose in Ukrainian language, modality, time correlation, design of subjective and predicative syntaxemes and positional organization can be singled out.Double modality is carried out in the syntactic structures with the infinitive of purpose: real (principal), implicit in the principal verbal predicate, and unreal (additional) represented by infinitive. In typical situations this model was presented by the combination of the principal verbal predicate and infinitive in the frame of complex or simple structure. In this research, the investigation of the category of purpose is significant because of the functional peculiarity of infinitive which is related to its potential capacity to designate action in connection with the subject (carrier of the predicative quality) independently from semantics. In the utterances with the infinitive of purpose, the position remains always opened for the first actant (left side syntaxeme).
