Essay

The dissertation is devoted to pre - statute systematization of the Lithuanian and Russ law in the second half of the XV-th and the beginning of the XVI - th centuries in the Great principality of Lithuania, which at that time had a system of federal government. At this period the process of unification of two sab-types of legal systems is taking place Slavic: ( mainly the Ukrainian and Byelorussian) which foundation was the old Russ law and Lithuanian itself into a single peculiar legal system of Great principality of Lithuania determined by peculiar legal, historical and geographical factors. Together with centralization of power and administration there arises a critical necessity of its unification regulation and improvement as well as the creation of nationwide collections of laws paying special attention obligatory retaining original ancient orders and privileges in separately taken lands.
