The dissertation deals with the elaboration of the effective method of the 5-7 forms'pupils'spelling skills'improvement in accordance with the connected utterance work. This research is the theoretico-experimental investigation of the linguadidactic principles of teaching Ukrainian spelling. In the theoretical part of the dissertation linguistic principles and psychological factors of working out pupils'spelling skills are found out; basic methodical positions for developing the theory of teaching spelling skills in connection with the work on the connected utterance are defined; achievements and problems of dissertations'skills'investigations are analyzed; the question of teaching spelling methol in the programmes and textbooks of Ukrainian language is revealed; practical spelling skills at Ukrainian secondary schools are paid attention to. In the practical part of the dissertation a well-reasoned and checked at schods of different regions of Ukraine the method of the 5- 7 forms'pupils'spelling skills'improvement in accordance with the connected utterance is proposed. A system of exercises in spelling is worked ant by the author. The gist of the method is in the systematic cooperation pupils into the active forms of teaching using introductory, training, constructive, creative drills and exercises and work on mistakes. Also the peculiarity of using innovatinal technologies in teaching is described; the influence of the ways of teaching on the activization of the thinking and speaking pupils'activity is found out; summaries and general conclusions are done.
