The research and theoretical principles of the process of the formation of economic competence of pupils in learning geography and economics and the development of the school practice is solved.The thesis investigates the concept of "economic competence" as part of a category of pedagogies and content of geographic and economic education in secondary schools. Epistemological functions and selection criteria of economic competence in learning in the school geographical education is grounded. It was found that the economic competence of pupils can be directed to the successful transfer of a situation that will contribute to specific careers.The economic fundamentals should not be limited to the study and teaching of special subjects, because the learning economy - means knowing effectively, think and act rationally, the appropriate algorithm to learn the thinking and activities is determined.The method of the economic competence of pupils in learning basics of geography and economics is proposed. Proved that economic competence is not difficult, but mastering system simplifies the socio-economic and geographical knowledge through their fundamentalization.
