This dissertation handles the problem of the polyphonic ear development of the elementary school pupils on the basis of Ukrainian national musical folklore by using the elements of national ornament at the lessons of music. The content, logic, specificity of the polyphonic ear development process of the elementary school pupils have been considered in this work. The criteria indicators and levels of the polyphonic ear development of the elementary school pupils have been developed. The stage-by-stage technique of the polyphonic ear development of the elementary school pupils, which includes tentatively-required, educationally-corrected and creatively-independent stages, has also been elaborated. Its efficiency has been experimentally tested.
