Bratchenko O. Literary activities of Y.P. de Balmen and Russian romantic prose of the first half of the 19-th century

Object - published and unpublished short stories by Y. P. de Balmen; aim - to analyze Y. P. de Balmen's literary heritage from the modern scientific basis and define its ideologic and artistic worth; methods - descriptive, systemic, social and genetic, comparative and typological, analytic and biographical; the approaches of integrative, motive, chronotopic and intertextual analysis; novelty - for the first time Y. P. de Balmen is characterized as a representative of Romantic movement in Russian literature of the first half of the 19-th century, for the first time in the thesis the complex study of Y. P. de Balmen's literary work is done, its ideologic and artistic originality as well as the place and value in the literary process of that time is defined, the belief about relationship between Y. P de Balmen and T. G. Shevchenko is broadened, new evidence of their ideologic affinity is obtained, four handwritten short stories are deciphered and introduced into scientific practice; results - can be used by historians of Russian and Ukrainian literature, Philology teachers, in general courses and special courses and seminars, devoted to Russian Romanticism, T.G.
