Essay

Taking into account the results of complex clinical and para-clinical examination of 110 patients we have shown that during neurological manifestations of the lumbar osteochondrosis (NMLO) there is no significant changes of fat-soluble vitamins A and E content in serum but alterations of copper, zinc and cobalt metabolism are evident. This stresses the role of mentioned compounds in the pathogenesis of neurological manifestations in osteochondrosis. Observed changes is the background for their correction using mineral-vitamin complexes which increase therapeutic efficacy of the basic treatment regimens and influence pain syndrome of spinal osteochodrosis and microelement homeostasis in the positive fashion. Six principal latent factors influence course of NMLO: pain in the low back area and lower limbs, content of microelements and fat-soluble vitamins in blood, age characteristics and cobalt content in blood serum.
