Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the improving of the properties of coke as a blast fuel by treating its surface with the help of chemicals. Firstly was confirmed theoretically and experimentally, that for surface treatment of coke by chemical compounds had been necessary reagents with p-elements which form stable complexes with carbon, in contrast to reagents with s- and d-elements, which catalyze carbon gasification reaction of coke. The mechanism of interaction of sodium tetraborate and products of thermochemical transformations with the carbon of coke, which leads to the formation of elementoorganic structures is proposed. Positive impact of tetraborate may be used for further improving of the coke quality, for maintenance on the desired level by using cheaper coal blends with lower content of coking coal, in other words - for compensating with the help of out-of-oven treatment the deterioration of technological properties of blend, caused by its cheaper components. The optimal technological parameters of application of sodium tetraborate solution on the coke surface was established: volume - 45 l/t of coke; consumption of active substance - 3,15 kg/t.
