Starinets N. Clinical peculiarites in multiple sclerosis patients with emotional disorders and their therapeutic correction

Thesis is dedicated to study the clinical peculiarites in multiple sclerosis patients with emotional disorders and their therapeutic correction. The prevalence, the associations between psychopathological symptoms and sociodemographic data, duration, type of course, disability were studied in 169 multiple sclerosis in-patients (110 women, 59 men, mean age 37,6±5,85 years, mean duration 9,46±0,54 years). Patients were assessed with the Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), ММРI tools. The statistical analyses were performed with the MANKOVA calculation system. The emotional disorders prevalence were estimated as depression in 64,5%, anxiety 71,60%, hypomania 9,47%, apathy 3,55%, dysphoria 3,55% patients. Depression were found to be associated with age, family, education, social positions, residence, disease duration and severity of disability. Suicidal ideas were present at 15,97% of patients. Anxiety is associated with age and severity of disability but not with severity of disorders separate functional systems EDSS. The findings of this study suggest that emotional disorders in MS patients have a complex organicreactive etiopathogenesis. The empirical therapeutic approaches for the treatment of main emotional disorders were proposed.
