Essay

This dissertation is devoted to the research of influence of labour migration on the family roles of Ukrainian female labour migrants with experience of working in Poland and Greece. A multilevel composition of the basic family roles' structure of Ukrainian women is developed and empirically verified in the thesis. It is supplemented by analysis of the character and the level of influence of labour migration on the production and reproduction of family roles at migration and postmigration periods. The theoretical and methodological frameworks of the thesis are the theory of structuration by E. Giddens, which lie the basis of the author's model of family roles. The study is also underpinned by works of Ukrainian sociologists, such as O. Kutsenko (notions of society, social space and dispositions) and S. Babenko (patterns of reproduction and production of social practices). Empirical part of the dissertation is grounded on the data from structured interviews, collected by the author.
