Essay

The thesis is dedicated to determination of physical properties of short-circuited thermoelements of two types, namely short-circuited thermoelement with slanted shorting and double short-circuited thermoelement; research on the distribution of physical fields, energy characteristics and design optimization of such thermoelements to improve their efficiency; experimental research on the above-mentioned short-circuited thermoelements. Obtained by means of computer methods, the regularities of various factors influence on the transverse thermoEMF and efficiency of thermoelectric power conversion in the short-circuited thermoelements are of theoretical importance, provide a deeper insight into physical processes occurring in such thermoelements and serve a theoretical basis for the development of computer technologies for simulation and optimization of thermoelectric power converters based on the isotropic and anisotropic materials. The results of development of computer models of short-circuited thermoelements and optimization of their construction are of applied significance and serve the basis for selecting materials and optimal constructions of short-circuited thermoelements, thermoelectric devices and systems on their basis.
