Essay

The dissertation focuses on the existentialist ideas in the images of key films of the directors of West-European cinema in 1960–1980s. It has been proved the priority of the human existence, and on the basis of the filmography the basic existentials of human being have been described. The correlation of reason and belief put in the center of artistic reflection allows define the contradictions of existentialism itself. The interpretation of the problem of human existence and communication has been traced and the reasons of man’s being reformed by the society and his nothingness have been defined.
