Ramchurn A. Bougienage in the treatment of esophagogastric junction postburn stricture.

The work is devoted to improving the outcome of patients with post burn strictures of esophagogastric junction based on a comprehensive clinical and individual treatment strategies, using methods and instruments we developed. The work is based on the examination, investigation and treatment of 122 patients with postburn stricture of esophagogastric junction. It is demonstrated that vibrating bougienage improves blood flow to damaged areas of the esophagus. The role of gastroesophageal reflux in the formation of esophagogastric junction postburn stricture is demonstrated, and electron microscopy showed that the changes occurring in cells at submicrospic level are reversible with the use of vibrating bougienage. The clinical part of the paper shows that there is an improvement in treatment from 74,8% to 92,4% when using a device in which the vibrating source is located at its distal end.
