Essay

The paper elucidates the results of the complex estimation of apple cultivar-rootstock combinations as an element of the intensive technology for this crop production. The object of the researches were two valuable pomological cvs 'Ascolda' and 'Spartan' grafted on new dwarf, semi-dwarf, and middle rootstocks mainly bred at the Institute of Horticulture of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences (IH NAAS) of Ukraine. The dissertant studied the trees vigour in a fruiting orchard, their resistance to the environment unfavourable bio- and abiotic factors, early-maturity, degree of their potential productivity and its realization into yield and fruit quality at the beginning and end of the storage period.
