The dissertation provides a complex scientific research into the theoretic principles of establishment and development of the legal doctrine as a source (form) of law. Within the framework of this research, the essence of legal doctrine is pinpointed by means of an in-depth analysis of its peculiarities and advantages, its place and role in the system of law, and justification of the given category in the modern theory of law. The dissertation investigates the doctrine as a peculiar source (form) of law which comprises a system of jurists' fundamental views on state and legal phenomena and possesses specific characteristics, provides scientific explanations of existing social challenges in order to find the most efficient ways of overcoming them, and defines strategic prospects of a country's legal development.
