Shumak O. Improvement of the criteria for hygienic regulation and assessment of noise from internal sources in multistory dwelling houses

Thesis for the conferring of a Candidate of Biological Sciences degree by the speciality 14.02.01 - "hygiene and occupational pathology", biological sciences.- SI "O.M.Marzeiev Institute for Hygiene and Medical Ecology, Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine", Kyiv, 2011. For the first time a complex study of the impact of inner sources of noise in multistory buildings on the occurrence of negative reactions of the lodgers has been performed. A method for the assessment of the risk of negative reactions of the population under effect of low levels inner noise has been evaluated. Sanitary-and-hygienic assessment of outdoor environment of multistory buildings has been performed and characteristic properties of their acoustic regime have been determined. It was proved by the results of the study that established maximum allowable levels for residential noise (30 dBA - for night time and 40 - for day time) didn't comply with the needs in acoustic comfort of the lodgers of multistory buildings. Determination of the saturation of the buildings with a large amount of engineer-and-technological equipment was one of the reasons for this study. Necessity of the existing approaches to the assessment of residential noise and introduction of the hygienic standardization of the new criterion based on the assessment of the subjective reactions in the practice has been scientifically substantiated.
