Essay

The dissertation is a relational analysis of the New Left movement indicating causal mechanisms of its marginalization in the transforming Ukrainian society. The author analyzed global and local contexts of the New Left development in Ukraine: resurgence of the New Left in the form of the alternative globalization movement, neoliberal transformation of Ukrainian society, marginalization of the "Old Left" parties, diffusion of antineoliberal attitudes, localization and depolitization of the social-economic protests in Ukraine. The author defined the major stages and mechanisms of the New Left formation in Ukraine as well as demonstrated that self-enclosure and instrumentalization were the main mechanisms of the New Left marginalization in Ukraine.
