Mar'yanko Y. Design terminology in the Ukrainian language: formation and development.

The dissertation studies the formation, functioning and development of modern design terminology in the Ukrainian language. It highlights the scientific principles of design terminology identification in modern Ukrainian language; defines system correlation among its units, analyses the semantics of lexemes in the professional language of design and singles out the basic periods in the making of design terminology. The research also deals with design terminology etymology, its original and borrowed vocabulary. The lexical-semantic features of design terms were analysed including paradigm relations and synonymy, homonymy and polysemy. It allows to work out the typology of lexical-semantic groups in the design terminology of the Ukrainian language. Basic ways of word-formation (semantic, morphological and syntactical) were determined and productive word-formation models described.
