Object of research - the light of representatives of the "German historical school" of the second half of XIX - early XX century. The objective of the first scientific work is the genesis of capitalism in the light of representatives of the "German historical school" of the second half of XIX - early XX century. Methods - scientific (analysis, synthesis), methods of historiographic periodization and systematization, historiographic and source analysis and synthesis, terminological analysis. Results - We have investigated and analyzed the views of the authors of the "German historical school" of the second half of XIX - beginning of the XX century with respect to the genesis of capitalism. We have proved that the genesis of capitalism in the concepts of the "German historical schools" authors of the above-mentioned period has been analyzed in conjunction with the factors of social, political, moral, ethical, legal, cultural and historical order. The attention has been given to spiritual factors that have contributed to the genesis of capitalism and were identified by representatives of the school. We have compared the views and scientific concepts of scientists of the "German Historical School", the classical and Marxist schools regarding the study of capitalism. We have defined the role of social factors in the genesis of capitalism as well as the way it was influenced by the traditions, ethnic origin, religion, customs, national interests and geopolitical position.
