Yhnatyuk A. Financial Intermediation as a Factor of Social Well-Being

The dissertation deals with the problem of the influence of financial intermediation on social well-being. Evolution of different points of views on the concept of "financial intermediaries" and "financial institutions", their role and place in developed and developing economies is studied. Overview of the theoretical considerations and empirical literature on the economic and social well-being definitions', their development and measurement methods are provided. Theoretical and methodological grounds for the role of financial intermediation in social well-being growth are presented. The main differences between market-based and bank-based financial systems and their influence on the country economic system in developed economies are outlined.
