Essay

The purpose of the given work is the increase of traffic management efficiency on the urban network by means of coordinated traffic control improvement. To achieve the appointed target there have been settled the following problems: there were settled the methods and algorithms of traffic management in urban areas; determined the interrelation of management parameters in the system "Urban road network - Transport flow - Means of control"; developed the theoretical fundamentals on improvement of coordinated management for the urban road network; developed the simulation model for parameters determination of traffic coordination on the urban road network; estimated the efficiency of traffic management on the urban road network. The object of investigation - the process of traffic movement in urban areas. The subject of research - traffic management on the urban road network. Research methods. The methods of system analysis based on SADT-modeling technology were applied for the purpose of formalization of the traffic control process in urban areas; by means of mathematical modeling methods application there were obtained new parameters of traffic control on the urban road network; at improvement of coordinated management there was set and solved the task of control parameters optimization on the urban road network by means of Nelder-Mead method; there was carried out simulation modeling of the traffic control process on the road network. The scientific novelty of the results obtained consists in the offered approach for determination of traffic control parameters on the road network that allows to increase the efficiency of traffic control parameters of traffic movement on the urban on the basis of interrelation of both density and speed of transport flows at stretches with traffic-lights cycles parameters at intersections of the road network; there was improved the method of coordinated traffic management by means of determining of optimal parameters for traffic control on the road network of urban areas - the balance of traffic-lights regulation cycles and the shift of traffic-lights regulation phases along the road network; formalization of the process of traffic movement by means of SADT-modeling methods that provides a structured description of the control process in the researched system and determines the interrelation of control functions has met a further development. Practical value of the results obtained. The results of the investigations carried out can be used by the state automobile inspection authorities, design and scientific-research establishments at solving of problems concerning traffic management parameters determination can be applied at designing and implementing of schemes for traffic management in metropolitan areas in the complex of ASTM (Automatic System of Traffic Management) and investigation of traffic flows behavior on the urban road network. The practical implementation of the given work consists in the software application that is based on the developed models for traffic control parameters determination on the road network at the scientific - production enterprise "System+Service" in Kharkiv. The method of traffic control parameters determination is applied at the state-run enterprise "Shlyakh", Poltava that allowed to increase the traffic efficiency.
