Kushnirchuk M. Peculiarities of surgical treatment of postoperative ventral and umbilical herniae based on the evaluation of micro- and ultrastructural changes in tissues of the anterior abdominal wall.

Subject: patients with postoperative ventral and umbilical hernia, micro- and submicroscopic structural changes of tissues. Objectives: an improvement of results of treatment in this category of patients. Methods: clinical, laboratory, biochemical, roentgenologic, pathomorphological, cytological, variation statistics. Novelty: the peculiarities of pathomorphological changes of tissues were analyzed on microscopic and submicroscopic levels in the area of hernial orifice; the use of autologous tissues and alloplastic materials was justified. Results: efficiency of treatment of patients in this category has increased reducing the amount of wound complications. Implemented: these have been implemented into practice and educational process.
