Essay

Thesis is devoted to studying of metabolic and hormonal disorders occurring in epileptic women with long-term duration of disease and antiepileptic drugs therapy and also to diagnostics and treatment optimization of secondary osteopenia and osteoporosis. It have been proven the independent affect of epilepsy (disease duration, frequency and type of epileptic seizures) and antiepileptic drugs therapy on biochemical markers of bone metabolism (parathormone, oxyproline, glycosaminoglycans) in epileptic women. It have been discovered an important effect of epilepsy onset age on the decrease of bone mineral density and development of disorders of bone metabolism markers. It have been proposed the algorithm aimed to contribute the early diagnostics and differentiative antiresorptive therapy of secondary osteopenia and osteoporosis in epileptic women with taking into account the age of patients, term of disease duration and epilepsy onset age.
