Essay

Verbalization of sacrality in Ukrainian Christman carols. The goal of the thesis is to analyze and systematize verbal means of representing the sacral/mythological aspect of the world perception of old-time Ukrainians. The methods used included those of componential, interpretative and quantitative analyses of linguistics and those of deduction/induction, fragmentation /synthesis of general theoretical approach. The paper proves the exceptional role of a word in folklore, inhibited with special magic poiver. Its results can be used in further semantic and stylistic research and teaching.
