The object of research: the proxemic component of the modern English dialogic discourse. The aim of research: revealing of functional-pragmatical features of the proxemic component of the English dialogic discourse, and lexical-semantical and syntactical-semantical features of means of nomination of the proxemic component. Methods of research: system-functional analysis, discourse-analysis, contextual-situational, systemic-functional, lexical and stylistic analyses, elements of quantitative analysis. Results, novelty: the proxemic component of the dialogic discourse is a nonverbal component of communication indicating meaningful changes of the personal space within the general communicative space which is used by the speaker to strengthen efficiency of communicative influence and to reach the communicative aim. The communicative space consists of the addressee’s and addresser’s personal spaces which have the centre and periphery with mobile borders which change depending on the stage of development of the dialogic discourse, its communicative orientation, social status, gender and age characteristics of communicators. Naming of the proxemic component is presented by verbal constructions of proxemic motion which describe the speaker’s motion oriented to the terminal/starting/intermediate point of moving; a limited/unlimited area of moving; instantaneous/uninstantaneous, slow/rapid, integral/partitive moving. The repertoire of the proxemic communicative components is limited unlike of other nonverbal components. The proxemic component is multifunctional, which means that it can express different meanings depending on the type of discourse and verbal and nonverbal means of communication by which it is accompanied. The proxemic component is involved in creation of the initial, informatory and final stages of the positively, negatively and neutrally oriented dialogic discourse. Use sphere: the theory of discourse interaction of different code systems, the communication theory.
