The object of the thesis is studying the ways of metadiscursive category of turn-taking actualization in the contemporary English cinematic discourse. The subject of the thesis is studying of pragmatic characteristics of turn-taking strategies and tactics actualization in cooperative and conflict situations of the contemporary English cinematic discourse. The aim of the research is identifying category essence of turn-taking, strategies and tactics of its actualization and identifying factors affecting their choice in cooperative and conflict situations of the contemporary English cinematic discourse. The thesis deals with the followings tasks: systematizing ideas of turn-taking from the point of view of different schools of linguistics; specifying principles and methods of discourse analysis of turn-taking strategies in the contemporary English cinematic discourse; identifying the nature of turn-taking as operational metadiscursive category and finding linguistic pragmatic parameters affecting choice of turn-taking strategies and tactics actualization; identifying characteristics of discourse as a multicode phenomenon affecting the choice of turn-taking actualization ways; finding peculiarities of metadiscursive category of turn-taking actualization in cooperative and conflict situations of the contemporary English cinematic discourse and set of typical strategies and tactics; finding peculiarities of verbal and nonverbal, including cinematic codes implementing strategies and tactics of turn-taking in the English cinematic discourse. To study functional and pragmatic characteristics of turn-taking the following methods are used: induction and deduction, contextual and intentional analysis, examination method, interpretative analysis, elements of conversational and discourse analysis, quantitative analysis. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact, that the nature of turn-taking as an operational metadiscursive category has been described for the first time; the complex of turn-taking strategies and tactics has been outlined as well as the peculiarities, verbal and nonverbal including cinematic codes of actualization in the cooperative and conflict situations of English discourse; the multycode nature of cinematic discourse has been specified, as well as its categories and structure. The theoretic significance of the thesis is defined by its contribution to the theory of discourse, media linguistics, pragmatic linguistics. Linguistic conflictology and theory of argumentation. The practical significance of the results and conclusions lies in the fact they can be used in the course of English theoretical grammar and special courses of discourse studies, media linguistics, linguistic conflictlogy and theory of argumentation, as well as in the studies of students and post-graduates, in the practice of PR and translation.
