Tokarev K. Inner form of the word as a parameter of interlingual comparison (on the basis of English and Ukrainian languages)

The thesis is devoted to the complex analysis of the inner form of English and Ukrainian words. On the basis of analysis of different theories and systems of comparative study a specific generalization of the inner form of the word and related subjects (morphological meaning, motivation, etymological meaning) was provided, functions and ways of transferring of the national cultural images were described. Taking into consideration the differences of morphological systems if English and Ukrainian the most important types of relations between inner form of the nouns are analyzed. The structural-semantic peculiarities of the inner form of the word are determined in the aforementioned languages. On the basis of the proposed classification the features of the inner form of the nominations are analyzed, the similarities and differences are found, the exact statistical correlation between different types of relations of the inner form of nouns is depicted. Judging from the results of the quantitative analysis the characteristic features of associative and semantic reactions occurring during the creation of nouns in English and Ukrainian are found.
