Essay

The work is devoted to research on methods of studying the elements of cartography in school physical geography courses. The state of the investigated problem in the theory and practice of school learning geography and place specified school kartoznavstva in the content and structure of curricula, textbooks, total physical geography lessons. Undertaken a comprehensive analysis of psycho-pedagogical and scientific-methodical literature on the issue of research and found an objective the need to modernize our teaching methods mapping given the state of cartographic literacy students. A theoretically grounded and experimentally verified by improved methods of studying the properties of maps, as main elements of the school mapping system and special assignments for the formation of cartographic concepts in school physical geography courses. The optimum content and volume of material structure mapping a course of general geography, which could in the level of knowledge and skills of students with cartography.By teaching experiment proved that the implementation of the developed methods of studying the elements of cartography in the educational process of school physical geography courses enhances students' progress.
