The thesis objective is to develop the methods of applying symbolic transformations for practical problems of navigation and vessels traffic control in severe conditions on inland waterways. Technique allows to combine knowledge concerning working operational models, calculation methods, terms of environmental factors, time series measurements of navigation options as well as actual regulations for operational traffic control of the particular vessel at the symbolic (algebraic and logical-mathematical) form. It systemically, thoroughly and targeted determines the real differences between the vessels operational plan and its actual traffic according to the programmed trajectory. The systematic analysis of trends in modern navigation systems and vessel traffic control according to international standards of navigation on inland waterways has been conducted herewith. The main goals been formulated and research objectives partially been put are to develop a set of tools within a common technique of using the symbolic transformations for providing the safe navigation in real-time considering varying terms of environmental factors.
